The squid is mostly caught with ships that use selective fishing methods (jiggers). The jigger fishing vessels are a specialty of the Far East. Until this moment, except for Argentina, no western country has its own jigger fishing vessels fleet. The jigger fishing vessels normally fish at night, using automatic devices (jiggins), designed based on squid behavior. The shoal of fish is gathered during the night using light provided from strong lamps located on the deck of the ship that can also be complemented with the use of submarine lamps. |
